    Hi Keeda,

Thank you for your follow-up. I also appreciate you sharing the screenshots, those are very helpful in understanding the issue more clearly.

Your account is currently set up to use code-based authentication, but the system is expecting a push notification. This mismatch is why you're not seeing a place to enter the code.

    This can happen if:

    • The MFA method was changed in your school’s Azure AD settings
    • Your Authenticator app was reconfigured manually instead of using the QR code setup
    • The account was added as a TOTP (Time-Based One-Time Password**)** - only method instead of enabling push notifications

Since this is a school-managed account, the most effective way to resolve this is to reset your MFA registration so you can reconfigure the Authenticator app properly.

    Please follow these steps:

    1. Contact your school’s IT administrator or helpdesk
    2. Ask them to reset your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) settings
    3. Once reset, sign in again—you’ll be prompted to re-register your authentication method
    4. This time, use the QR code setup provided during sign-in to add the account to Microsoft Authenticator
→ This will enable push notifications, which match what the system is expecting

Note: Simply removing and re-adding the account in the app manually will not fix the issue unless the MFA registration is reset from the admin side.

I hope this helps resolve the issue and gets you back into your account smoothly. Please feel free to reach out if you need help. We’re here to assist.

    Hi Keeda,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Support. I understand you're trying to sign in using your school and personal accounts, but you're receiving a code from the Authenticator app and there’s no place to enter it. I’ll help you clarify what’s happening and how to proceed.

To better assist you, could you please confirm the following:

    • Which account are you trying to sign in with?
Is it your school account (e.g., ending in .edu) or your personal Microsoft account?
    • What type of prompt are you seeing during sign-in?
Does it ask you to approve a sign-in notification in the Authenticator app?
Or does it ask you to enter a code from the app?
    • Are you using the correct account in the Authenticator app?
If you have multiple accounts set up, make sure you're viewing the correct one for the login attempt.
    • Could you provide a screenshot of the issue?
If possible, please share a screenshot of the screen where you're stuck (make sure to remove or blur any personal information before sending).

    Notes:

    • If the system is asking for approval, you won’t need to enter a code - just open the Authenticator app and tap Approve.
    • If the system is asking for a code, you’ll need to open the app, find the 6-digit code under the correct account, and enter it where prompted.
    • If you’re not seeing a field to enter the code, it’s possible the login screen is expecting a different method (e.g., push notification or password).

If You’re Still Unable to Sign In, Here Are Some Workarounds:

    1. Use an Alternate Sign-in Method
If you previously set up a backup method (e.g., SMS, alternate email), click “Sign in another way” on the MFA prompt screen.
    2. Contact Your IT Administrator (Recommended for Education Accounts)
If this is a school account, your institution’s IT administrator can reset your MFA settings. Please reach out to your school’s helpdesk or IT department.
    3. Submit a Support Request (If You’re the Admin)
If you are the administrator of your Microsoft 365 tenant and are locked out, you can submit a support request from another admin account or contact Microsoft support directly for MFA reset assistance.

I hope this helps clarify the situation and gives you a few steps forward. Please feel free to reply with the requested information, and we’ll continue assisting you from there.

    Best regards,
