Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Hi Keeda,
Thank you for your follow-up. I also appreciate you sharing the screenshots, those are very helpful in understanding the issue more clearly.
Your account is currently set up to use code-based authentication, but the system is expecting a push notification. This mismatch is why you're not seeing a place to enter the code.
This can happen if:
- The MFA method was changed in your school’s Azure AD settings
- Your Authenticator app was reconfigured manually instead of using the QR code setup
- The account was added as a TOTP (Time-Based One-Time Password**)** - only method instead of enabling push notifications
Since this is a school-managed account, the most effective way to resolve this is to reset your MFA registration so you can reconfigure the Authenticator app properly.
Please follow these steps:
- Contact your school’s IT administrator or helpdesk
- Ask them to reset your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) settings
- Once reset, sign in again—you’ll be prompted to re-register your authentication method
- This time, use the QR code setup provided during sign-in to add the account to Microsoft Authenticator
→ This will enable push notifications, which match what the system is expecting
Note: Simply removing and re-adding the account in the app manually will not fix the issue unless the MFA registration is reset from the admin side.
I hope this helps resolve the issue and gets you back into your account smoothly. Please feel free to reach out if you need help. We’re here to assist.
