Disabling Hyper-V on windows 11

Hi,

I just installed windows 11, and for some reason there is a hyper-v detected which is preventing me from running some programs. Unfortunately, the process to disable it is different from windows 10 and doesn't work for windows 11. Does anyone know how to disable hyper-v?

I reached out to microsoft for support, and they basically denied help, bc they aren't trained to use it yet....

Thanks!

    Hi,
    Hope this will help:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/application-management/virtualization-apps-not-work-with-hyper-v

Please note that Windows 11 is a new version and there’s not many official documents about it yet. Please try the method in the above link, and hopefully it would be supported soon.

    Thanks for your understanding.
    Best regards,
    Danny

    Hello,

The process for Windows 10 will still work with Windows 11 because here the problem is due to Hyper-V Hypervisor and not directly depend upon operating system. Only one virtualization software can use hardware virtualization extensions on your system at a time. Hence, disabling the Hyper-V Hypervisor should also work with Windows 11. In case nothing else here works for anyone happening across this post, I ended up disabling Microsoft Defender Device & Credential Guard and all other virtualization-based security features and it worked for me after trying all of the other suggestions first (Window11).

There are a number of sketchy tutorials but I used this script:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/identity-protection/credential-guard/dg-readiness-tool

    ...with these parameters:

    DG_Readiness_Tool_v3.6.ps1 -Disable -AutoReboot

Note, you are disabling security features and all that implies. It is not recommended.
