Problems with Windows Update repeatedly installing printer driver and a problem with Photo Apps' "Zoom to Fit"

Hello,

I am running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit version 21H1 build 19043.1110. I have a Canon MG7720 printer.

Every time I check for updates manually, Windows Update reinstalls the “Canon - Printer - 8/24/2018 12:00:00 AM - 2.90.2.20” printer driver automatically.

I have “Do you want to automatically download manufacturers’ apps and custom icons available for your devices?” set to no.

Windows Update History states that the driver was successfully installed. Do I need to use the Show or Hide Updates utility?

Also, Windows Photo app states that “Zoom to Fit” can be activated with “Ctrl+1”. When I have a photo open and I press Ctrl+1, nothing happens. If I click on “Zoom to Fit”, the photo is zoomed to the screen size. The shortcut Ctrl+1 does not work.

Your help is appreciated.

I solved a similar issue by first removing my old printer driver package files and then removing items from the Windows Update "download" folder:

** Remove Old Printer Drivers **

    1) Press Windows Key + S and enter control panel. Choose Control Panel from the results.
    2) Select Devices and Printers.
    3) When Devices and Printers window opens, select any printer and click the Print Server Properties.
    4) Print Server Properties will now open. Go to the Drivers tab, select the printer you want to remove, and click the Remove button.
    5) Select Remove driver and driver package option.
    6) After removing the printer, click Apply and OK to save the changes.
    7) Repeat as necessary for other drivers

** Clear Windows Update Download Folder **

    1) Open ‘Services’ app (services.msc).
    2) Double click on Windows Update entry and stop the process.
    3) Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
    3) Select and remove all files or folders.
    4) Open Services app again and restart the Windows Update process.
    5) Check for updates again and the driver will disappear.
