Why can I not share an Excel file via email?

I have an Excel file that I would like to email to someone, by clicking Share, then selecting Attach a copy, selecting Excel Workbook.

I get a message box saying that there is no email program associated to perform this. I have Outlook installed, and I have Outlook open.

It says to create an association in Default Programs. In the default programs I feel sure that I have Outlook as my default email, I don't use any other email program.

This function works fine on another computer that I use.

Thank you!!

    Hi Cymp,

Good day to you! Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Community.

Regarding to the description, the issue might be from the default email app settings on your computer. In this situation, I would recommend trying the following steps:

    1. Set Outlook as Default Email Program
      • Go to Settings > Apps > Default Apps.
      • Scroll down and click Outlook.
      • Ensure Outlook is set as the default for Email, MAILTO, and other relevant protocols.
    2. Repair Office Installation
      • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
      • Select Microsoft Office, click Change, and choose Quick Repair.
    3. Restart Your Computer
      • After making these changes, restart your computer to ensure the settings take effect.

If you encounter any issue trying these, please let me know. Looking forward to your response.
