Dear Cynthia Chika Nwabuike,
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
I understand that you want to change the phone number on your account.
First, I need you to tell me if you can log in to your account.
If you can, please do the following:
1.Log in to your account account.microsoft.com
2.Select “Security” and click the “Manage how I sign in” button on the right.
3.Select “Add a new way to sign in or verify” and add your new cell phone number.
4.Go to “Text a code” above and select “Remove” for your old cell phone number.
In another case, if you can't log in to your account, you need to get the login privilege and then operate the steps above to add a new cell phone number.
- Reset your password. If you can't reset it, skip to step 2.
- Submit the account recovery form.
If neither your verification email nor your cell phone number works, then the account recovery form is the only way to restore your account. Account recovery is handled by a fully automated server, and to protect the security and privacy of our customers, the Community Team cannot and is not authorized to access or view any account information. You may refer to:
Help with the Microsoft account recovery form - Microsoft Support
3.After your account is restored, you can follow the steps above for adding your new cell phone number.
I hope my suggestions are helpful to you.
Feel free to post back if you need further assistance.
Best Regards,
AriaSh - MFST | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
