Please Help>Outlook>Calendar>Microsoft Places>People

I was rehired to the same company and my work email stayed the same. Now my calendar is still showing my old boss is "in the office today" in the top right corner of my calendar. When I click on it to 'see who else is in the office' I'm shown the 'People you work with screen' listing previous colleagues from my last job and their availability or each day they are in the office.

I don't want that and I've tried to delete/remove them, but I'm not seeing any option to in settings or when I right click or open their profile. Please help me remove my old boss so I don't have to see that she's in the office every time I open my calendar. Thank you.

    Dear William,

    Hope you're doing okay!

I just wanted to follow up and see if you've made any progress on the issue. Were you able to submit a support request with Microsoft's Support Team?

If you’ve got a support case ID already, feel free to drop it here, it’ll help us track things more smoothly and keep the momentum going on our side too.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Warm Regards,

    Dear William,

    Good day!

Thank you very much for your detailed follow up and for taking the time to verify your profile information across Microsoft Places and Teams. We truly appreciate your effort in reviewing your reporting structure and ensuring everything is up to date.

Based on what you've described, it sounds like your organizational data is correctly configured, yet outdated colleagues are still appearing in your Outlook calendar view. Unfortunately, there is no user-facing option to manually remove individuals from the “People you work with” section in the New Outlook experience. This data is typically driven by backend directory relationships and cached metadata within Microsoft 365.

As moderators, we do not have access to the administrative tools or tenant-level diagnostics needed to make changes to these backend relationships. We recommend reaching out to your Microsoft 365 admin center****or your IT department, who can:

    • Review your Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) attributes
    • Confirm group memberships and reporting line associations
    • Submit a support request to Microsoft if further escalation is needed

We understand how important it is for your calendar to reflect your current working relationships, and we’re here to support you however we can throughout the process.

Please if you have any further additional assistance in the future, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Appreciate you reaching out. Stay well!

    Warm Regards,

    Hi Chris,

Thank you. I don't see an option or link to click so that I can update my office location and manager/dept/team. I've linked People to my Teams app as well, and when I click on my profile via Places>People from within the icon on the left in Teams, it's showing all my info is already current (location, manager, etc.). But I'm still seeing the outdates people in my calendar. Please advise on how to ensure that this info is also current in Outlook. I have also reviewed my reporting structure and that's current as well. Is there anything else I can do?

    Dear William,

    Nice to meet you!

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the details of your calendar experience. We're happy to assist.

We understand how seeing outdated colleague information, such as your former manager’s availability, in the “People you work with” section of your Outlook calendar can be distracting, especially after your recent rehire. This issue often occurs when legacy relationship data or cached connections remain associated with your account.

At present, there isn’t a direct user-facing option to manually remove individuals from the “People you work with” display in Microsoft Places. However, we recommend trying the following steps, which may help refresh or clear old relationship data:

    1. Update Your Microsoft Places Profile Please visit https://places.microsoft.com and ensure the following:

    • Your office location is current
    • Your manager and team details are accurate
    • Save your changes and sign out/sign back into Outlook

These updates help Microsoft 365 align with your present organizational context.

    2. Review Your Reporting Structure with IT We recommend reaching out to your IT department or administrator to:

    • Check your Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) profile
    • Confirm your manager and department fields are up to date
    • Remove any old group memberships that may be tied to your previous role

These backend updates often help sync Microsoft 365 features, including who appears in your “People you work with” list.

Please let us know if you need further clarification or assistance. We appreciate your patience and look forward to assisting you further.

We hope you have a great day!

    Warm Regards,
