Repeatedly getting incorrect codes when using Microsoft Authenticator to sign into Hotmail account

Question

When trying to sign into my Hotmail account using multi-factor authentication, I repeatedly click on the correct number of the 3 displayed, only to be told that I have provided the wrong code. This is a recent issue, with Authenticator having worked fine previously.

I recently received an email purporting to be a 'note to self' which was a scam email, but it certainly appeared to have come from my email account, landing in my Junk folder, so I'm not entirely sure that my account hasn't been compromised at some point, but I'm not sure if this is contributing to my issue or not.

I have the same issue for the first time today… After using authenticator app for months now. I assume it is a technical glitch on this date…
