Hello,

I am posting a Microsoft Office 2010 installation issue in behalf of a customer. The customer is getting this error ""Error 1920. Service 'Office Software Protection Platform' (osppsvc) failed to start" when installing Microsoft Office 2010.

We already tried the methods mentioned on this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2401987 and these steps as well to no avail:

1.    Open Run (Press Windows key + R) > type services.msc and click on OK

2.    On the services Microsoft Management Console (MMC) window right-click on Office Software Protection Platform and select Properties

3.    Select the LOG ON tab > change the ‘Log on as’ information from ‘This Account’ (Network Service) to ‘Local System Account’

4.    Click on Apply and OK.

Please let us know how to address this matter.

Thank you.

This fix is not working for me. I receive an error when attempting open the properties of the office software protection platform service that reads: "The Parameter is incorrect." By the way, when attempting to Start the service from the Services console I receive this error: " Windows could not start the office software protection platform service. Error 5: Access denied."
