Since I have installed Office 2011 It shows up in my Documents folder every time I open an Office document. How do I get rid of it permanently without negatively affecting the performance of Office? Thanks

You can't "get rid" of this folder, in which certain required data are stored (among which the Word backups, etc.) Why on earth do you want to get rid of it? Many other apps will store some data in the Documents folder.

And, by the way, you can't change the contents of the "Microsoft Office 2001" in your "Applications" folder either, and you can't rename or move the applications around, That's how it is.

Why on earth does the folder need to be in such a prominent place? Adobe doesn't save a folder there when I open one of its programs. Apple doesn't. Google doesn't. I want to bury the folder somewhere so I don't see it every time I open my documents. Is there at least a way to change its location?

Some users use a symlink to move the folder, but it needs to be on your drive. If you move it to a server you will experience issues. This folder is especially important since it stores all your email.
