Date format being changed between computers on a networked Excel spreadsheet

Hi,  I have an Excel spreadsheet with a date column, the SS originating from my computer (Windows XP, Office 2010).  My date setting is 01/11/2010.  When a 2nd computer (Windows 7, Office 2010) opens the SS and types a date in, it looks the same on their computer.  The format setting reads 01/11/2010.  They save and close.  When I open the SS on my computer, the date is 2010/01/11.  So it's not just inverted, it's muddled too.  And the format has changed to this.  On a 3rd computer (Windows 7, Office 2010), the format is changed to 2010/11/01, which is just inverted.

Please HELP so we can all see the same thing and have the same format!!

Microsoft Excel stores dates as sequential numbers known as serial values; but displays as a date the format of which is picked from Date format in Windows regional Settings.

You can view a date as a serial value changing the format of the cell that contains the date to General format. The different you see is because of the difference in the Date format in Windows regional Settings. To display in a similar way; you can format the cell FormatCells>From Number Tab select Date and choose the required format.
