Office Professional Plus 2010 Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not available.

I cannot install MS Office Professional 2010 on my Dell pc running Windows 7. I uninstalled Office 2003 before attempting to install this version. At first I was able to get the installation process to start, but I would get an "unable to continue" message at the end. Now it won't even start installing. I get the message" Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not available. Run Setup again from the original source disc or download location." I'm using the original source disc.

I just tried again and now I'm getting the message "The language of this installation package is not supported by your system."

After repeated failed attempts at installing Office 2010, I ended up having to reinstall Windows 7. That did the trick. Thanks to Gerard and LVTravel for the suggestions.

I tried both suggestions. I thought it was going to work, but here's what's happening every time I start the installation: The progress bar gets to about 70% from the end, then it stalls there for about a minute or two, then it goes backwards to about 60% from the end, and about a minute later I get the "Microsoft Office Professional Plus encountered an error during setup" message. Even with all services disabled and all startup items disabled, it happened again. Do you have any other suggestions?

No other Office related applications remain installed on my pc. I am once again able to get the installation process to start, but when the installation bar gets about 2/3rds of the way done, it hangs, and then I get the message "Microsoft Office Professional Plus encountered an error during setup." And there's nothing I can do at that point. Interestingly, today I successfully installed Office Professional Plus 2010 on a Samsung netbook using the same installation disk, after having uninstalled Office 2003 the same way I did on my Dell Optiplex GX 620. Do you think there may be something wrong with the way Windows 7 is installed on the Dell?

Perform a clean boot and try again:

Or copy the entire contents of the installation disk to your hard

drive and run the setup form there.

    Any luck?

See if there are any Office related applications (Activation Wizard,

Proofing Tools, Outlook Connector, Outlook Business Contact Manager

and so on...) installed. If yes, uninstall them and try again.
