Variable Cell Reference

I am trying to reference a cell using a fixed column reference, but a variable row reference.  So, for example, the cell A? would be part of a formula.  A is obviously the column of the cell to include in the formula, but ? would be the value in another cell that is calculated by a formula.  So, in one simulation I may want to include A11 in the formula, whereas a different outcome for the simulation may place cell A35 in the formula.  Is there any way in Excel to included a variable in the cell designation which woudl result in difference cells being used in the formula?
