Feature ID not Recognized

Without changing anything, all microsoft office applications are suddenly unable to be opened on this computer. Previously everything was working perfectly, but now upon attempting to open an office application, the error message "Feature ID not registered" appears.

I cannot uninstall, reinstall using the original CD, nor use any of the programs any longer.  I tried looking at earlier posts for this problem, tried running repairhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/924611 suggested for someone else, tried  the following suggestion not no avail.

In addition to the step provided by Gerard, try to run the Microsoft Office application as an Administrator:

1.     Start->All program->Microsoft Office->Right click on Microsoft Word->Send to desktop.

2.     Repeat the above step for Excel, PowerPoint etc.

3.     Go back to desktop hold down the shift key and right click on the short cut icon for Word->run as Administrator.

4.     Repeat the step 3 for other applications.

What could have happened to cause this, and what can be done to fix it?

This seems like the installation is corrupted /damaged.

Refer the article below to uninstall Office 2007 traces from the machine:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218

Note: read the disclaimer before modifying the registry.

Now reinstall office 2007 and check if the issue occurs.
