Using Track Changes in a Form Document

I am trying to use Track Changes in a form document so that 3-4 different people can make changes, comments etc.  At one point, I had it working by unprotecting the document but I checked this morning and my colleague's changes are now all black text (she was using green to mark her changes).

As you have noticed, Track Changes and form fields protection are mutually exclusive. I believe you have to rethink the document structure.
