Best way to make 2 DNS domains speak each other

Hello,

We've set a conditional forward on each domain.

Domain A with a conditional forward into Domain B.

Domain B with a conditional forward into Domain A.

Those 2 domains also have a trust for each other on Active Directory Domains and Trusts.

I'm able to ping a machine from a domain A into B and vice-versa, but only with the FQDN (workstation.domain.local).

Not able to ping only with the hostname (workstation) or hostname and domain ((workstation.domain).

How to make name resolution as if it was on the same domain working with resolution only with hostname?

Is the forward conditioning the best way to do a DNS between two domains or another way is better?

thanks in advance!!

    Hi,
Based on my research , there are several way s to deal with the DNS resolution before create a trust , such as
    Conditional Forwarding,Stub Zones,Secondary Zones
I tried to use the conditional forwarding, and create a forest trust between the forests fan.local and pki.com.
Fileserver.fan.local is the DC in fan.local.Here is the result ,i amnot able to ping host name from the trust domain for at first, once ping the FQDN then ping the hostname it turn good.

Based on my understanding , FQDN is unique in both the forests, but the host name may conflict in the forests.
So it is recommend using the FQDN, not the host name.
