When i try to insert a pdf as an embedded icon into excel using the object insert method I get the response cannot insert file.

Is there something I need to do differently or enable on my system?

Cheers

Have you tried the steps provided in the previous post, if not perform the steps and verify the results.

Try to open Excel in it's safe mode and try to insert the.pdf and verify the status.

    For Windows XP

Click start > Run > type 'excel /safe' (without quotes and note the space in the command)

For Windows Vista and Windows 7

Click Start > In search type 'excel /safe' (without quotes and note the space in the command)

If the above works disable the add-ins and verify the status:

If the above step fails, Repair Office 2010.

I can insert Word docs (although if not a 2010 version it tries to send error reports and only works on 2nd attempt) , and power point.  I tried resaving the pdf as a .tiff or bitmap but my system will not allow me to resave to that file type.

    Nothing special is required...

Are you able to insert other file types using the same method?
