Error Bars in log axis

Excel 2007.  I could add error bars in linear scales but then when I change the axis to log, large black panels appear on the graph.  How do I avoid this?

This does not happen in other versions of Excel I have tried.  But I do not want to redo all my graphs in a different version of Excel.

thanks

Make sure that no values less than or equal to zero are involved - those can't be plotted on a logarithmic axis. For example if y = 0.5 and you have error bars for +1/-1, the min would be -0.5.

I found one recommendation to create the error bars BEFORE changing the axis to logarithmic...

If you have zero values, you cannot use a logarithmic axis.
