When I copy and past text from my captions into the metadata of my photos for submission, I was told. " I noticed in your metadata that commas were replaced with erroneous characters. I am guessing that you copy and paste from word into the IPTC fields. If you change your settings in word to remove Smart Quote function, you won't have this problem any longer.  It's a one-time fix."

How do I turn off the Smart Quote function. Please I can't find it!

Word 2010: File > Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options...

Word 2007: Office button > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options...

Word 2003 or earlier: Tools | AutoCorrect Options...

Activate the AutoFormat As You Type tab.

Clear the check box labeled "Straight quotes" with "smart quotes".

OK your way out.
