Is that an office update or a windows update?

Step 1:

Reset the windows update component and then try installing the updates, check if the issue is resolved. There is Fix it tool below link will help you with the same

How do I reset Windows Update components: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

Step2:

Install the standalone package of the updates. You can download the standalone from the below link with the KB number:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads and check if the issue is resolved.

I also have this problem on Windows 7 32 bit, running Office Professional 2010 32 bit.

I have run the Windows update Fix-It (kb971058) and downloaded the standalone update, ocfxca2010-kb2553347-fullfile-x86-glb ; however the standalone update will not install, displaying 'An error occurred while running detection' message.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Counselor,

The problem is that this Office updates are for 32bit operating systems... if you have Microsoft Office 2007 installed on a 64bit OS like Windows 7, then it will fail.

    Best regards,
