Header disappearing when increasing top margin

I am trying to insert a header starting on page 2 of my document.  The first page has a top margin of .5 (for letterhead), I want page 2 to have a top margin of 1.25 to accomodate the header and a little space between the body.  When I go to increase the top margin space through Layout and Custom Margin, the top margin space increases but my header on page 2 disappears, the header is retained for the rest of the document (starting with page 3 of x).  Any ideas what's going on or how I can accomodate the header on page 2?

Display all nonprinting characters (Command + 8) and find the Section breaks in your document. It sounds like you have a section break at the end of page 2 ... just verify ... no need to change.

With the cursor in the header for section 1 select the Different First Page options from the Header & Footers tab on the ribbon. This will allow you to adjust the header for page 1 of section 1, independently from page 2 of section 1.

For more information on Section Breaks and working with Headers and Footer see Word Help.
