Which version of Office have you installed and on which operating system?

Do you have multiple versions of Office installed?

Step1: Unregister and Re-register Windows Installer

Press Windows key + R, in the Run Window type ‘msiexec /unregister’ without quotes and click on OK.

Press Windows key + R, in the Run Window type ‘msiexec /regserver’ without quotes and click on OK.

NOTE: There is a single space in between ‘msiexec’ and ‘/’.

Step2:  Give Permission to Office Keys

Follow the link to give permissions:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884202

Note: Make sure you read the disclaimer mentioned in the article. Replace Office 12 for Office 2007 and Office 14 for Office 2010.

If the above does not help, run the fix-it and uninstall Office and re-install it again and check. Also make sure that you have the disk and product key for the Office suite before you uninstall Office.
