Cursor disappearing when holding CTRL key

The mouse cursor disappears when holding down the CTRL key in PowerPoint 2010.

Is this a setting that can be changed? I use the CTRL key all the time to re-size graphics, text boxes, etc. and the cursor going invisible makes things difficult.

Thanks!

I was having the same problem.

First I changed the personalize desktop setting to Windows Classic - the cursor did not disappear when I pressed Ctrl.

Then I reset it to Windows Basic and then back to Aero. The cursor remained visible.

Thanks for getting back with the info. You might want to see if there's an upgraded driver for your graphics card.

Thanks for the quick replies, disabling graphics HW acceleration seemed to fix the issue!

I've never seen this either but you could try:

    1. File >> Options>>Advanced >> Disable graphics hardware acceleration
    2. Right Click desktop >> Personalise and choose Windows basic to temporarily disable aero settings

let us know if either have any effect.

While in the show mode, holding CTRL hides the cursor (new in 2010).

But I have to assume you're talking about while in the edit mode, right? (That's where you edit graphics and text boxes.) I too use optional keys like CTRL with the mouse a lot when sizing, but I've never seen it hide the cursor. I can't replicate the issue and know of no settings for that. Perhaps someone else might know of such an issue like that. Perhaps a video card or Win7 issue?
