ActiveX Control Text Rendering Oddly

Hello,

We've recently switched over to Excel 2007. We have several templates that we use at our work and some of the more complicated ones use the ActiveX controls. When we switched to Excel 2007 we noticed that the text for these controls does not render properly. Text on all ActiveX control buttons, dropdowns, checkboxes, etc come up squished and oddly sized (letters overlaping other letters, characters boxy, etc). I thought a simple solution would be to just change all of the ActiveX controls over to regular controls, but unfortunately they don't support all of the functionality that these templates require.

I searched for a solution to the ActiveX text problem and have been unsuccessful so far.

Has anyone ever experienced this before?

Here is an example of what I'm seeing: https://docs.google.com/drawings/edi...7DsJ XQ&hl=en

The top is the example of what's wrong and the bottom is how it should be. I tried creating ActiveX controls in entirely new worksheets and they are also oddly rendered, so it's not just our old template

Thanks,

Frank

Anyone ever get this fixed?  I have it also, and it is baffling.  Excel 2010, version 14.0,6112.5000 (32 bit)

    Bill, thanks for your reply.

Yeah, it's no good. I spoke to the users again and they have got around the problem by turning on Macros. This solution doesn't work for me, as I've had Macros on this whole time, but that at least means it isn't a priority any more. I'd still like to resolve the issue if I can though.

    a) Zoom level is at 100%.

    b) Didn't do anything. I also created an entirely new workbook and created a new activex control with the default font. Still, it is rendered oddly.

    c) The version I have is 12.0.6535.5002 SP2.

Our hypothesis is that this is happening because Office was upgraded on our machines as opposed to uninstalled and reinstalled with the new version. I might request IT to do this if it bugs me enough.

    Anyone else have any ideas?

    That looks bad, doesn't it.

I haven't experienced that problem myself, but if I had it I would

    a) check that the worksheet zoom level was 100%

    b) try changing the font of the controls to Calibri (the default).

    c) check that my Excel was fully updated with the latest service packs.  [my Excel 2007 is currently build 6535 (SP2).
