Data Validation List - font

Hi Guy's,

I have a worksheet where the contents of certain cells is restricted by using data validation.

The validation is taken from a list. A* A** B* B** etc.

However, using normal * makes it appears too small, so I've been using á and changing the font to Wingdings 2. This makes it much more readable.

The problem is that while this looks fine in the list on the worksheet, the dropdown values in the data validation along with the cell value when an item is selected display á

Is there anyway to retain the font difference?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi, don't look at the vba, if you go to Data Validation Font Size, it start talking about a workaround using combo box and there is  a link saying instructions here (third paragraph form the beginnig), it takes you to how to set up the combo box , at the end you can change the font

Don't know the right place to post this so here it goes -- Microsoft needs to fix this problem with the validation list. It should have been fixed a long time ago. For templates that will be use by various users within an organization,  the font on the validation list is so small that it is often useless.

Combo boxes are fine if you don't need many and your company allows vba coding. But when you need numerous combo boxes and/or the workplace does not allow vba coding, then it is not an option.

Why Microsoft has not fix this is beyond me.

Thanks. I see what you mean. There are quite a few cells with this validation though, so I guess it'd be quite an effort to create comboboxes for all of them?

Thanks ediardp. I know that vba would allow lots of other possibilities, but unfortunately I cannot use code in the workbook and was hoping for a macro-free resolution.
