Excel 2010 - Error when saving: "<filename> is currently in use..."

After upgrading to Office 2010, I've been having some trouble with Excel 2010 saving. I get an error saying "<filename> is currently in use. Try again later." If I click through the error, I can usually save the document within about 5 tries.

I checked the server to see if the file was listed as open under any accounts other than mine. Strangely, I don't see it as open at all.

The exact text of the error is: "<filename> is currently in use. Try again later."

It happens with multiple files. None of them are shared workbooks.

It doesn't appear to happen when I choose "Save As...", even if I'm overwriting the same file.

It seems to be isolated to one network location. I've saved one of the files to other locations and I could no-longer duplicate the problem.

And why would I want to remove the safeguard of having my auto save function shut off.  That's not a fix.

I added the full error to my original post. I don't ever see a hang, just the error.

Here is one thing you might look at:

In my previous response I was looking for the full error message because there are lots of file in use errors.
