Delay activating Office

I am starting with a clean install of Windows and all the other software.  Can I install Office and all the Service Packs without activating it or will that effect my ability to activate it later?

My hope is that next time I have to reload Windows I can just use an image I create and when I do that I will likely get an error about the activated programs.

Yes you can delay activation. If you are reloading to the same computer I don't see any advantage to the delay.
