Microsoft Office blocks internet access

I installed Office Home & Student 2010 on my desktop.  The next day, I was unable to access the internet.  I've been trying to resolve this for over four weeks.  Yesterday, I decided to install Office on my laptop.  This morning I was unable to access the internet.  I uninstalled Office, rebooted, and was able to access the internet. I would like to access the internet from my desktop, but I also want to be able to use Office.  Has anyone else had a problem with Office blocking access to the internet??

Thanks,

Bill

What are you using for a firewall program, antivirus program, and antimalware program?

I spent two hours on the phone with techs @ Verizon, and both had me ping different sites with no problem.

Not only can I not access the internet with IE or Firefox, but I can not download my emails with Thunderbird (but I can do all of these on my laptop, now that I uninstalled Office).

Can you monitor the internet traffic?

Maybe Office is consuming your bandwith?

Are you 100% sure internet access is blocked? or is this manifesting itself in confusing fashion?

This is not symptomatic of Office at all. Can you ping web sites?

I've never heard of the issue you describe.  Exactly what happens when you start your web browser?
