Adding bullets and numbers to a protected document

I have a template that is protected with one section that is not protected.  I can do most formating in that section except format bullets and numbered lists.  Is there a way for me to have this functionality in my document?

In Word 2007, you will also have to make these styles "Quick Styles" so that you can apply them via the Styles group on the Home tab. (Word 2007 limits formatting of unprotected sections in a protected document even more than previous versions do.)

Create a style for each type of bullets and numbering that you want to use. These styles can be applied in the unprotected section of the protected document.
