Is there a workaround for this error msg "Cannot open pivottable source file" ? Occurs when opening an excel file that contains a pivot table from a browser.

None of the existing references to this issue solves the problem.

We have similar problem when using Internet Explorer 8.0

    1)Download file from Internet

    2)Click Open

    3)Excel File Opens

4)Ask to Enable editing file because is from internet

    5)Ask to Enable Data Connection

6)Error message cannot access PivotTable data source.

In my case the source data exists on the same sheet.

This won't happen with the win xp- office 2003 combination (I have win 7- office 2003)
