Whenevr I paste text into a presentation it comes in as subscript. I have looked up answers and have been told to click off the slide, make sure nothing is selected and then use the format menu to make my adjustments. I click off slide and cannot find this "format" area, command, stc... This is making me crazy. can someone walk me through it or post an image visually showing the "Format" location? I am using PPT 2007 HELP!

    >> What is really driving me crazy is the file I have is the company standard template. So when I need to add slides from another division of our company I copy & past them into the template and it makes ALL of the text sub script. It would be insane to try to ungroup and individually select each text block and repair them (Engineering slides)

Understood.  But as a test, have you tried what I suggested above, on one or two text boxes?  First we have to figure out what's causing the problem.  THEN we can work on fixing it.

    >> I have set the default text box to ariel 18 for goodness sake! It is somehow in the DNA of this template! When I select imported text and right click to get to the font charachteristics of course subscript is checked and must be unchecked. Is there a way to get to that dialog box other than selecting text / font?

You could select multiple text boxes then click the "dialog launcher" (the teeny arrow-in-a-square thingie at the bottom right of the Home tab | Font group.  Changes you make there will affect all of the selected text.

    >> I believe if I could find out how to get to that dialog box and turn it off it will not do it anymore.

    >> Or this template was made by the devil and I need to build a new one from scratch!

It's not named Moloch.potx or the like, is it?  If so, run.  Far.  Fast.  ;-)

Do you have any non-proprietary examples of a file based on this template and one of the files you're copy/pasting from?  Something you could share?

Try "cleaning" the text before pasting it:

    Start Notepad.

    Paste the text into Notepad.

Select All, Copy  (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C)

    Paste that into PPT.

    And/or this:

Insert a new text box.  Type a little text into it and verify that it's properly formatted.  If not, you may've missed a step in setting the defaults.  If it's ok, try this:  instaead of just pasting text, insert a new text box and with the insert cursor in the box, paste your text.

    Click the Insert tab

    Insert a new text box.

Format it however you want your default text to appear.

Then click anywhere within the text, press the ESC key. This selects the text BOX, rather than the text.

Rightclick and choose Set as Default Text Box

Any text you add from now on should be formatted the same as this sample text box.

If you need help getting the text formatted the way you want, give a shout.
