We figured out a work around. Thanks, though.

I created a mail merge document and saved it and the datafile on a shared drive for all of our accounting department to use. The problem we are having now is that I am the only one that can open, edit or use the data for the documents. When we try to open the data file from anyone else computer, it is mapped to my folder on that shared drive instead of the folder I put the datafile into. What can we do to allow everyone access use this?

We are having the same issue.
We create a Mail Merge document and the data source was automatically created.
Microsoft Access Database - shows in the My Data Sources file list
Is there a way to 'unlock' the database so that people from different computers on the shared network can access the mail merge Word document and the database that is associated with it?
Without being able to see you network setup, it is hard to figure out what is going on, or just what you mean by "mapped to my folder" One possibility however could be that you have the mailmerge main document open on your computer, which would probably put a "lock" on the datasource file.
What type of data source was it?
-- Hope this helps.
