Style and Formatting problems

When I copy text from a BB or article on the web and paste into a Word 2003 document, the text has a blue background that I cannot remove.

In my Style and Formatting Font list  Apple Converted Space or Apple Style span is listed.  Why is it there?

When you paste formatted text, you paste the style with it (see http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/styles/FormatOfTextChanges.html). Instead of pasting directly, you can use Paste Special to paste as Unformatted Text, or, if you have Paste Options enabled, you can choose that option. Once you have cleared the Apple style from the pasted text, you can delete the style from the document: in the Styles and Formatting task pane, right-click on the style and choose Delete.

Have you tried using Clear Formatting or applying the Normal style? As for the " Apple Converted Space or Apple Style span" listing, presumably those are the styles applied to the text.

In the past, whenever I used "cut" and paste" I never had to use the Clear Formatting.

If the font was set to one I wanted to change, I would either choose a font or NORMAL.

The "Apple Converted Space or Apple Style Span" were not chosen by me.  I tend to believe they were downloaded by something I might have copied.

How do I get rid of the  "Apple Converted Space or Apple Style Span" ?

Thank you very much for your reply.  It is much appreciated.
