Removing horizontal lines

My question isn't really complex. When you create a horizontal line with three dashes, how do you get rid of the line that forms if you've saved and quit from Word? This is Word 2007.

That is not correct!  Nor is it the first time that you have given this erroneous response to this issue.

The line that is created by typing 3 dashes and then pressing the Enter key is a paragraph border and can only be removed by placing the selection in the paragraph immediately above the line and then use the Border and Shading pull-down in the Paragraph section of the Home tab of the ribbon and click on the No Borders icon.

    In Word 2010:

Place the cursor in the vicinity of the line to be removed.

    Go to the Home tab.

Click the "bottom border" icon in the Paragraph section (the icon looks like a window, or four squares, drawn with dotted lines).  (Click the arrow beside this icon, to open a drop-down menu.) The bottom border icon is the last item on the toolbar above where it says "Paragraph".

From the drop-down menu, choose the option "No borders" (usually the fifth item in the list).

If it doesn't work right away, repeat until successful.

Rubbish. Do you think Word users are so stupid that they didn't try using the delete button?

Highlight the line and hit the DEL key.
