Hi,

When I created a VM in Hyper V, i notice the VM folder contains a special group called NT VIRTUAL MACHINE. I have tested if remove this group, snapshot failed work.

Can have some experts to explain why this special group is required and is there any official MS doc that provide this information about the usage of this group ?

    Hi,

Based on my knowledge, NT virtual machine is a special group created by the system. You can regard it as a service accounts group of virtual machine.

You will need to grant the account "NT virtual machine\virtual machine" with the Log on as a service right or permission so that you can start or migrate a virtual machine.

There is no official MS doc to explain this special group. But you can read below article to learn how "NT virtual machine" will affect your VM running.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-US/troubleshoot/windows-server/virtualization/starting-or-live-migrating-hyper-v-vms-fails

Hope above information can give you some help.

    Thanks,
