Bullets starting at incorrect level.

I have created a protected document template, with the styles locked, for use in my company. This template includes four different Bullet List styles, which I have fomatted from levels 1-3. I do not wish to use any further level. The styles are all correct, and work from level 1-3 no problems.

However, now when I use the template and choose to format a line as any one of these styles, they begin at the fourth level of bullet, and i have to reduce the indent right back to the first style.

Could anyone offer any reason for this, and any thing I can change so that they always begin at level 1.

Many thanks.

Well, since I edited my messages in the web forum (which I don't normally use), the posts got confused here... :-)

As I wrote, applying a list style to text should apply the level 1 item. I don't know what is wrong here. If you want to, I can take a look at the document (see my previous message for an e-mail address).

I'm having difficulties picturing what you are seeing... Usually, level 1 should always be applied when you apply a list style to text. If you want to, I could take a look at the problem file. You can send it (or relevant portions of it) to*** Email address is removed for privacy ***.

I have created the bullets using Bullets and Numbering > List Styles. I created each list from fresh, and used Add, Format, Numbering to manipulate my indents and levels.

I have created 4 independent List Styles, all of which I have formatted up to level 3. This problem seems to occur in all four lists.

When I reduce the indent using the toolbar button, they go through levels three, two and then one. The bullets do seems to be working correctly, just beginning at level 4.

Is this a multilevel (outline) list or four independent single-level lists?

How did you set up the indents? Note that you should always specify the indentation for a numbered or bulleted list from within the numbering options (not via the Paragraph dialog box).
