I am using cross reference (field code) to copy some value to somewhere (in same document). I also want to use Track Changes to log anythings is updated.

However, it doesn't work since when I using Track Changes, all cross reference value will also updated with track changes.

How can I copy the acture changes (updated part only) when using cross reference??

Part of the problem is that cross-references (and some other fields) not only update when you choose to update them; updates are also forced by printing or print previewing.

Usually, ignoring fields until editing is complete and you are ready to turn off Track Changes is the best policy...

What are you trying to accomplish, exactly?

As long as changes have not been accepted, some references and values will not be correct.

The field cannot be locked since it maybe updated by someone. I want to keep track who/when made the changes, so that I using Track Changes.

Well, you can lock the fields, so that they won't update. To lock fields in the selection, press Ctrl+F11. To unlock fields in the selection, press Ctrl+Shift+F11.

The alternative is to simply ignore the fields; they will update correctly after you have turned off Track Changes and accepted (or rejected) changes.
