Using macros to format documents and insert text in Word

Hello all,

We currently export to RTF our document templates (set up as reports) from our Access database into Word. When the documents export they do not keep the formatting exactly how we would like it so we have created macros that are run while in Word that address these formatting types of issues and also insert various pieces of text into the respective documents. The macros that we have do not seem to carry over well when they are loaded on another computer in the office. We were told that the reason for this is that we all have different size monitors and different screen resolution settings. We have been told from another source that the apparent differences in the macro functionalities should have nothing to do with the different size monitors and screen resolution settings but rather may need to be different due to that fact that we use different types of printers. Could someone shed some insight on this issue and perhaps provide a clear explanation as to our need for different macros and the incapability to carry them over from one computer to another? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

HCIP

Different printers (actually printer drivers) can do what you are describing. Having your macros apply consistent styles rather than attempting direct formatting might improve the situation. Consider printing to a uniform pdf driver and then printing those results to paper.

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/TextReflow.htm.

Note that "template" in Word has a meaning different from what your context in your post suggests you mean. I suspect you mean a document produced to certain specifications.
