Track changes comments sometimes write from right to left

I use track changes in Word 2007 to edit documents (.doc and .docx), some of which were written (in English) by people whose first language is not English. In some documents when I try to comment using track changes my writing goes from right to left - word by word not letter by letter. Any punctuation gets put on the extreme left. I have no contact with the document writers - perhaps their computer was originally set up to write from right to left for Hindi etc? The text I work on is aways English, written from left to right, and when I make changes inside the text it works fine, it is only the comments at the side that go all wonky. Also, I have noticed that when I am using the spelling/grammar check function, the box that opens has its text in the correct order but justified to the right, which looks odd to an English speaker. I cannot find a way to fix this problem. Thanks.

The paragraph alignment might be set to ‘Right to left’ instead of ‘Left to right’ under ‘Home’ tab. Try setting the paragraph alignment to ‘Left to Right’ as shown in the figure below.
