I want to change the text of a hyperlink. Just like the anchor tag in an html document. I highlight the hyperlink text, insert, hyperlink. In the "edit hyperlink" window the "text to display" value is grayed and contains "<<selection in document>>".  How can I ungray that field and change the hyperlink display text?

thanks,

Don't select the hyperlinked text. Instead, just click in the hyperlink, right click, and choose Edit Hyperlink.

If you send me a copy of the document, referencing this thread in the covering email message and advising what you want to appear in the hyperlink, I will investigate the issue.

Same for me - doesn't work in 2016. What was the solution?

Brilliant! Do you know why it does this occasionally - is it because the link is too long?
