Access table won't open

I am running an Access 2000 database in Access 2007.   Another user is running the same database in 2007 without a problem, so I don't think that's the issue, although I have tried saving it as a 2003 file as well.  There is one small table, not linked, that will not open.  It is under 100 records, 3 columns, just a list of dates basically.  I can open it in design view, but if I try to open it in datasheet view, I see only the first record, and then Access locks up indefinitely (until I do a shutdown; ctrl-brk or escape do not work).  I have tried exporting the data to Excel, and then importing it to an entirely new table in Access, and I get the exact same error.

I am about to tear my hair out, so any ideas are much appreciated!  I have tried a compact and repair, changing settings, enabling macros. . .

It sounds like a corrupt database. Try using a copy of the same front-end as the other user is.
