So...my C:/ had crashed in December 2010 while I was deployed. I came home to find that my kids had lost all my OE discs and key codes, except for XP Pro. Thankfully XP had a key sticker on the bottom of my system. I now have that crashed hdd in an external enclosure. I had tried all the free key finders, but to no avail. I tried to look in the registry, but I can't seem to find anything that looks like a key code. On the knowledge base articles, I found this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/895456. Has anyone done this? Does it work? Thanks yall.

I sure thank you for your advice, but Magic Jelly Bean and ProduKey didn't work. I had already tried Jelly Bean before, but running it as admin failed then and now. ProduKey didn't want to work at all.
Did you try this one http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html with the command line option to look on external drives?
