Word Documents Saving Multiple Copies

Every time I save a Word document, it makes an automatic copy.  Impossible to remove all the copies.

What is up with this?  I'm up to 23 copies of each document!

Try working in Windows clean boot mode and verify the results.

Note: After completing troubleshooting steps, reset the Windows to start normally.

If you are able to work with Word as expected in clean boot mode, this might be due to a Non-Microsoft service.

Thanks so much for your reply.  I just studied the copies.  They have all been saved automatically as folders.  I selected them all, then went through and deselected the files (original, initial saves) that I wanted to keep.  As I was humming along the "progress" window came up (as in downloading) and it was saving all the files again as further copies.

Don't know if this makes sense.  I did go to another family member's documents folder in which to save my Word document and the duplicate folders and/or files were not made.

Any way that I can go to the copies that are automatically being saved and select them in an "ouchless" way?  There are so many and as mentioned earlier, I tried the "Select All" and then deselected files I needed to keep, and they started all downloading into copy no. 30!

    Thanks again -- Sandi Lopez

Does this happen with a particular file or with all the files?

Are you able to work with other Office applications?

Try saving the file to a different location and verify the results.
