A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data.
Problem now resolved, it was being caused by the underlying cells being protected and causing the cursor to jump to the next available cell.

On my worksheet I have some protected and unprotected cells and that works ok.
I also have a text box for adding comments, the text box is unlocked so that comments can be added when the sheet is protected.
When the sheet is unprotected then typing is ok in the text box however when I protect the sheet it acts strangely.
If I start typing in the text box that is ok until I press enter to go to a new line and the cursor jumps off the text box and on to one of the cells much further down the page. Is it something I am doing or not doing. I have tried locking and also unlocking the underlying cells but that doesnt seem to alter it.
thanks
