OneNote Autocorrect language

dear All,

on my computer, the Autocorrect feature appears in French (France) even though I am drafting in English. How can I change the language of the autocorrect entries in OneNote 2010.

I know that in word 2010, for instance, the autocorrect entries change the language if you change the spelling language (as you may expect it). this does not work under OneNote 2010.

I have the same problem with my OneNote 2013 - has this problem been fixed? I live in a French speaking country so my OneNote has automatically set its Autocorrect language to French- but I wright in English most often and find it very tiresome to have to set the language to English every time I write on a new page. Is there a way of changing the default Autocorrect language?

    dear All,

on my computer, the Autocorrect feature appears in French (France) even though I am drafting in English. How can I change the language of the autocorrect entries in OneNote 2010.

There are a couple of issues with One Note that the development people have yet to sort out.

On your new text that you type text  on a NEW page on YOUR machine it should default and use the local dictionary language.

HOWEVER if you copy and paste text in from another application (Say PowerPoint) and that text has been done on a machine / PC with a different language then the default language it will use for that that on THAT PASTED TEXT is the foreign language text NOT your language.

It is frustrating as because you cannot globally highlight text and change to the current dictionary language spell checker for some obscure reason.

I thought at first it was because I had a couple of other languages installed on my machine but further testing shows that it is to do with the embedded code in the text you are bringing in.

One NOTE does not work like it should in respect to language and dictionary as once you have pasted text that has been done on another machine and the language defaults to the language of that other machine then there is no way to fix it and correct the text in a block.

You can correct it word by word which is bizarre, by:

    Highlighting the wrongly spelt word

    Right click

    Click SPELLING

On the right-hand side pick the dictionary language (it defaults to the foreign language of the text you are correcting)

SELECT the correct dictionary language in the drop down

Click the replacement word in the suggestions box OR "Add to dictionary"

You cannot add to dictionary IF the incorrect language is being used.

If you think the way the spell check works is hardly satisfactory then the Search function is not far behind it. The development group really need to get out there and get some users who use the product. The Search function could easily be vastly improved.
