excel 2011 Macro recorder won't record color fill

I am using office 2011 for MAC, and am trying to create a macro that changes the color of the selected cell(s).  <br><br> <br><br>if I start recording the macro <br><br>click the fill color button pull down and change the color on the edit section of the ribbon <br><br>Stop the macro <br><br> <br><br>No code is recorded as below but the cell did change color to whatever I selected. <br><br> <br><br> <br><br>Sub Macro13() <br><br>' <br><br>' Macro13 Macro <br><br>' <br><br> <br><br>' <br><br>End Sub <br><br> <br><br> <br><br>IF I record macro <br><br>press command 1, then chose the background color <br><br>stop macro<br><br><br><br><br><br>the following code is generated: <br><br> <br><br>Sub Macro14() <br><br>' <br><br>' Macro14 Macro <br><br>' <br><br> <br><br>' <br><br>With Selection.Interior <br><br>.Pattern = xlSolid <br><br>.PatternColorIndex = xlAutomatic <br><br>End With <br><br>End Sub <br><br> <br><br> <br><br>The colorIndex is automatic no matter what color I choose. <br><br> <br><br>When I run the macro there is no change to the selected cell, but the border is destroyed. <br><br> <br><br>??? Thoughts.

    that is correct! there is a bug that prevents the recorded macro from properly recording the color change. You will either have to modify the recorded macro to set the color properly, or wait for an update that fixes the problem. However, there is no way to tell when or even if this will ever be fixed.

    Any news? It's still a problem in 14.2.4. It was reported one year ago.

    Don't hold your breath. There is no way to tell when or even if this will ever get fixed.

    All you can do is look at the release announcements for the new version, and even then it may not be mentioned so you will need to try it. How long ago it was reported has absolutely no bearing on when (or if) it will get fixed. Use send feedback in the help menu to tell microsoft how much you need this and why.
