Activation Wizard Problem

When trying to enter a product key into the activation wizard through any Office program I get a message saying "The setup controller has encountered a problem during install. Please rewiew the log files for further information about this error." However I am unable to find any information in the log file. I've tried running setup as the administrator. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office using the Fixit removal tool because Office does not appear on the add remove program list. My 30 days has run out I have a valid product and key I just can not get it entered. Help.

    Well I have tried this complete procedure of manually uninstalling Office 2010 now 3 times with no success. The last time I even tried emptying the recycle bin. The only thing that I am seeing in the event viewer that might be related is the following error:

    • Faulting application name: Setup.exe_Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper, version: 14.0.4755.1000, time stamp: 0x4b989df1
    • Faulting module name: ole32.dll, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bdac7
    • Exception code: 0xc0000005
    • Fault offset: 0x0002f2bf
    • Faulting process id: 0x1514
    • Faulting application start time: 0x01cb4ba6417c1a7b
    • Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE14\Office Setup Controller\Setup.exe
    • Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\ole32.dll

    I would sure like to be able to activate this computers copy of Office.

    And the log files?

    [q]

    For the log files click Start and type in the search box

    %temp%

    <enter>

    Maybe you should clear that temp folder first before you try to

    reinstall.

    Look for 'fail' and 'error' in those tmp/log files.

    What Office 2010 version? The Click-To-Run? Try the msi based

    installer after you removed the Click-To-Run with this tool:

    http://c2r.microsoft.com/tools/cleanc2r.zip

    Otherwise you have to manually check for installed files and registry

    entries. See for Office 2007 (version 12), but it's the same for

    Office 2010 (version 14):

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218

    For the log files click Start and type in the search box

    %temp%

    <enter>

    Maybe you should clear that temp folder first before you try to
