PowerPoint does not function on my projector

I encountered a problem with a PP presentation last evening and again this evening.  The problem is that my PP slide show will not show on my projector.  The image is on my notebook monitor, but the projector screen becomes blank and a message indicating 'no signal' appears.  I can force the signal to the projector by using the Fn/F8 keys. At this point the presentation will function as it should.  If I should close or esc the program and then restart the slide show, the same problem re occurs.

I have made changes in  settings to 'clone' the monitor, however, the problem reoccurs.

Is there something simple I am over looking....please help.  I am a trainer conducting classes for automotive techs and my season begins next week.  I need to know that this problem can be rectified.  I did not encounter this problem last year and I am using the same notebook and Office software (Office 2007).

Thanks,

FS

Is there any chance that the presentation's set to show on the secondary monitor?   Something of a wild guess, but its' easy enough to check:

Slide Show | Set Up group | Set Up Slide Show

Display slide show on:  Primary monitor is what you want to set.
