What is useless from the reply?  I gave several troubleshooting ideas with which one can work with. It isn't always the same solution for a problem as many of those can be the cause and, if corrupt, there are limited options available. SMH

More useless information. Why can't you people just answer a question that is asked? I have the same problem. The database is not corrupt; it opens fine on the server. "I don't have the foggiest idea" is a perfectly good answer, or, better yet, don't answer if you don't know. You just waste our time, and I can't tell you how frustrating this is but maybe you get the picture from this reply.

The database is located on the server and the entire database is now read only.  I was entering/changing data this morning and closed as usual, but when I opened it up again it notitified me in a pop up that the database was read only.  Not sure what happened.  Everyone has full permissions on that folder.  The file is not split, only two people access it.

Also, when you say "Access 2003 now opens as read only" do you mean that all forms are read-only, or is this problem only with a certain form?

In addition to Bob's questions, has the database been moved by writing it to a CD and then transferring onto another machine? Many CD writer set the Read-Only property when files are copied. You can go into Windows Explorer and right-click on the file name and check its properties.

Is this on a network drive?  If so, does everyone have full - read/write/delete permissions on that folder?

Second - is this split(if for multiple people it should be with a copy of the frontend on their machine)?
