no compatible scanner found

With a recent reload of Microsoft Office Pro 2003, Microsoft Office Document Scanning and/or Imaging find no compatible scanner. This seems peculiar because Word, Excel and Publisher find the Microtek scanner immediately, as do Windows XP SP3 and all other products which will import from a scanner.

I suspect there is a missing registry entry or several. Can anyone tell how to fix this? I have already tried removing and reloading Microsoft Document Imaging from the Tools section of Setup, but this did not solve the problem.

Thanks
