problem with extra carriage return in PPT insert

I am using MS Office 2007 PPT and Word. Here is my problem: I am working on getting a document ready for a class with PPTs presentation and hard copy/Word doc. I copy a PPT slide and Paste Special it (to link) into a figure box in Word. When I paste it, the slide looks correct in the figure box. But when I close the Word doc and re-open it, I have a carriage return at the bottom left corner of the figure box. This is causing all kinds of pagination problems - about 1,000 pages. We have used both of these templates for the Word doc: TMP-DEV-Word07-v5.2dotx and TMP-DEV-Word-v4.4dot -- and have had the same problem in both. The PPT templates have been TMP-DEV-PPT-v10.0 and TMP-DEV-PPT-v8.3., the earlier versions of each together and the later versions of each together.

If the technique isn't working, you could try pasting the the PP slide into a one column, one row table, adjusting the table to fit the picture; select table and remove borders--you may get the same result without the extra carriage return.

I don't think this is an 'extra' paragraph mark but the paragraph mark for the paragraph that the image is in, but as the image is just slightly too wide for the margins, the paragraph marker is wrapped onto the next line, thus effectively 'adding' a new line.

Adjusting the width of the images slightly narrower, the paragraph marker should return to the same 'line' as the image and will appear to the bottom right of the image all should be well.

I have a macro that will resize all images in a file to a predetermined size, reply here and I can post it for you.

    All the best

Have you tried creating handouts in word that serves both the purposes.

In this way the presentation can be used for slide show purpose and the handouts can be used for printing the hard copy.
